Brief background

On March 15, 1975, a group of brothers belonging to the “PISTIS” No. 71 in Piraeus, under the constant encouragement of Bro. Spyridon Koumoutsakos, decided to establish a St:. in the holy place of Elefsin. The task was very difficult and rough. Ad:. exclusively from “PISTIS”, so that there would be unanimity, they started the effort, with one and only goal: to create in Elefsina a Masonic Centre, which could pass on to modern Freemasonry something of the glory of the ancient Eleusinian mysteries and of which the Greek Masons would be proud.

Nine months later, on 15 December 1975, the establishment of the S:. St:. MAYOR No. 123 In An:. Eleusis was an event, which was celebrated by all the Masons. At the ceremony of the establishment of the St. It was stated that its ambition was to build, as soon as possible, “…a masonic palace of archaic style in Eleusis, which will become a centre of radiance throughout the country and internationally in the masonic world.” (Masonic Bulletin “Pythagoras”, issue 1, p. 17).

From that day onwards begins the “Odyssey” of the ad:. of DIMITIR. They are hosted until 1981 in the Old Tech:. Max:. Piraeus, then and until 1984, at the Tect:. Max:. Athens. From 1984 to 1997 they rent a house in Elefsina, from which they leave after having bought and donated to M. St:. of Greece the plot of land on which the Masonic Palace of Elefsina was to be erected and since the ceilings were about to fall on their heads… Such was their love for Elefsina… In 1998 a team of A:. of St:. undertook the daily supervision of the construction of the Masonic Palace of Elefsina. Max:. Elefsinos under the guidance of the Council of the Grand Lodge of Greece, which was inaugurated in June 2000 in the presence of foreign delegations. By 2000, the new Tect:. Max:. To date, 161 members have joined the F:. Today, the DIMITER works harmoniously with 42 active members, manning a TBA peristyle (“PERSEPHONI” No. 11 in An:. Elefsino), a Cryptic Council (“EURYDIKI” No. 11 in An:. Elefsino) and a Command Post (“HOSIOS PATAPIOS” No. 8 in An:. Elefsino). It is twinned with the Greek-speaking S:.
