Ο Peter-John Veranzeros (Pierre-Jean de Béranger, 1786-1857) was a French poet and lyricist, known for his political and social work. Born in Paris, he became one of the most distinctive voices of his time. With a simple and melodic style, his poems combined humour, satire and political criticism, often aimed at supporting freedom and democratic values.

His fame was consolidated during the Restoratsia, when his creations were an expression of resistance against the autocracy. His lyrics became popular songs, beloved by the French for their patriotic and social content. Although he did not belong to official literary circles, his influence was enormous in shaping the cultural and political consciousness of his time.

Veranzeros was a Freemason, which strengthened his progressive ideas and brought him close to radical political and social actions. He served democracy through his offices, emerging as one of the intellectual leaders of his time, although he did not hold official political positions. He died in 1857, leaving an important legacy for French poetry.
