Trikoupis Spyridon (Athens 1888 - Arachova 1945)

A descendant of the great family of Trikoupis. He studied law at the University of Athens. A multifaceted personality, from an early age he showed a keen interest in literature and theatrical creation. He was the founder of the literary magazine‘Daphne’ and a contributor to many well-known literary magazines‘Noumas’,‘Panathenaea‘ etc. In 1915-17 he served as a member of the Parliament of Aitoloakarnania. In 1920 he became the Director of Trade and Industry in the newly established Ministry of National Economy and in 1921-22 he became the Secretary General. He contributed greatly to the drafting of the insurance and stock exchange code.

Later, with the People’s Party, he participated as a proxy in the Fifth National Assembly in 1935. He served as Governor General of Epirus in 1932-33 and again in 1935, Deputy Minister of National Economy in 1934-35. For a short time he also served as deputy speaker of the Parliament. In 1944, at the beginning of the civil war, he was arrested by the E.L.A.S., taken hostage in Arachova and executed on 12.1.1945.
