He was born in Kastoria on 22 January 1930, and grew up in Megara, Attica.
He is a professor emeritus of the Civil Engineering Department of the National Technical University of Athens, an academic and an author. He graduated from the School of Civil Engineering of the NTUA in 1948 and did his postgraduate studies in Paris. In 1958 he was awarded a doctorate and then a trusteeship at the NTUA, in 1964 he became an adjunct permanent professor and finally in 1969 a full professor at the NTUA in the chair of ‘Reinforced Concrete’. He has been awarded the Medal of the American Concrete Society and the Medal of the City of Paris.
He has also been honoured with the title of Member of the Academy of Sciences of Turin (2004), has been Honorary President of the Euro-International Concrete Committee (1988), Honorary Member of the International Association of Laboratories and Materials (1989), Honorary Member of the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (1999) and of the Hellenic Society of Terminology (2008). On 12 June 2009, the TEE honoured him at a special event to mark his 80th birthday, and published a 765-page volume of honour dedicated to his work.
He has written dozens of books on construction and concrete, higher education, education in general, humanism, the environment, freemasonry, etc. His articles are frequently published in the most prestigious Greek newspapers and in 2012 his “Vima” supplements were published in book form.
He was initiated into thePhoenixLodge No. 51 on March 31, 1958 and has M.S.T.E. No. 5140, in the rank of Ed. on 19.01.1959 and in the rank of Doctor on 08.02.1960 and Rev. (1967-69). In 1969 he was elected a Glorious Member of the Grand Lodge of Greece and served as Grand Master of Guards (1969-1972), Grand Eleanor (1972-1975) and Grand First Supervisor (1975-1981). In 1965-1967 he collaborated in the construction of the Masonic Hall of Athens.
His masonic writing is very rich. He has been writing for at least fifty years in the Masonic Bulletin “Pythagoras“, where a total of 34 articles have been published since 1967 until today. He is also the author of the books: ‘Contextual Freemasonry’ (1974), ‘Masonic Gymnas for Knowledge and Communication’ (1983), ‘Three Centuries of Masonic Music and Public Concerts’ (2004), and ‘Great Examples of Life’ (2008).
In 1994 he was elevated to the 33rd degree and was elected Patron Member of the Supreme Council of the 33rd and last degree for Greece and in 2000 the Council of the Grand Lodge of Greece, in recognition of the highest services he has rendered both to Freemasonry and to Society, proclaimed him Honorary First Grand Master of the M.S.T.E.
In 2021 he was proclaimed Honorary Grand Master.
