He studied at the Physico-mathematical School of the University of Athens and taught mainly mathematics. But his great love was the in-depth research of the history of ancient Greek mathematics, physics, geometry, engineering, etc. He dealt with the mathematics of Euclid, Archimedes, Diophantus, Apollonius, interpreted and commented on their work, presented the practical applications in a huge series of individual studies. Fifty-six (56) of his scientific papers were published concerning the sciences of ancient Greece.

His reputation was international and he was highly regarded, he was also a member of the International Academy of the History of Science. In the minutes of the Academy of Athens Fourteen communications were registered between 1953 and 1971. The educational value of his work was unparalleled .His work with the all of Archimedes which includes the studies, drawings and the construction of “weapons”, is of great value, which is why the Technical Chamber of Greece published it honorary from 1968 to 1972. But apart from his positive occupations, the indefatigable scholar Evag. Stamatis also dealt with philosophical issues, on the Soul of the World, based on Plato and the Pythagoreans.
