Franklin Roosevelt, (New York, 30/1/1882 - Georgia, 12/4/1945)
Excelsior Lodge No. 648

Ο Franklin D. Roosevelt (Franklin Delano Roosevelt, 1882-1945) served as the 32nd President of the United States from 1933 to 1945, having played a key role in dealing with the Great Depression and World War II. Born in Hyde Park, New York, Roosevelt assumed the presidency at a time of deep economic crisis and was the creator of the New Deal, a set of policies designed to relieve Americans and revitalize the economy.

Roosevelt was a Freemason, and his entry into the Brotherhood took place during his youth. He was initiated in 1909, at the age of 27, into the Lodge. Excelsior Lodge No. 648 in New York, where he received all the degrees of Blue Freemasonry. As a member, he served in various capacities and upheld the core values of Freemasonry, such as brotherhood, mutual aid and progress.

Roosevelt is considered one of the most important and influential figures in American political history, and his tectonic involvement strengthened his connection to the intellectual and political circles of his time.

Roosevelt’s association with Freemasonry is thought to have provided him with a network of supportive relationships, which was useful for his early political career.

Although Roosevelt’s presidency was marked by enormous challenges, such as leading the United States during the Great Depression and World War II, his relations with the Freemasons are often cited as part of his broader social and political connections.

He died on 12 April 1945 in Georgia of natural causes.
