He was born in Kastoria in 1876. In 1897 he participated in the Greek-Turkish war and in March 1905, being then a lieutenant of the Greek Army, he entered the Macedonian War as deputy leader of the armed corps of Captain Mallios (Stefanos Doukas) together with other chieftains, under the military name “Philotas“. Towards the end of 1905, he was forced to return to free Greece for health reasons and also because his departure had already become known to the Ottoman authorities, who through the embassy in Athens, requested the recall of the Greek officers from Macedonia.

In November 1906 he returned to Macedonia as a lieutenant commander in the detachment of Vassiliou Papa or Vroda, this time with the warship “Lavras” with the area of action being Morichovo. He took part in the First Balkan War and made a special contribution to the liberation of Kastoria. In fact, on 11 November 1912, he was in charge of the Greek forces that entered the city after the withdrawal of the Ottoman troops.

He later participated in the Asia Minor Campaign and was discharged on 14 July 1922 with the rank of colonel. He later received the rank of Lieutenant General. He participated in border demarcation and war reparations committees. He had a very good knowledge of Turkish and Bulgarian. In 1914 he was awarded the Order of the Saviour. He died in 1947 in Thessaloniki.
