Papageorgiou Petros (Thessaloniki, 1859 - Athens, 18/1/1914)
Stoa "Filippos"

He studied literature at the Universities of Athens, Jena, Leipzig and Berlin. He did palaeographical studies in Italy. His great success, however, was his interpretation and deep knowledge of the ancient Greek tragedies of Sophocles, which are included in 16 theses-studies.

He taught in many cities of Macedonia and Eastern Rumelia that were still unredeemed.

In 1910 he presented his seven-year work in “Electra”. In the same year he was proclaimed professor of Greek literature at the University of Athens. He was editor-in-chief of the Historical Dictionary of the Greek language.
