Melas Vassilios (Athens, 1879 - Athens, 1913)

Son of Michael Melas, a foreign merchant who played a role in patriotic organisations such as the National Defence and the National Society. He participated in the Balkan wars of 1912-13 and the Northern Epirus struggle in 1914, in World War I and the Asia Minor campaign.

During World War II 1940-41 he served as senior military commander of Argyrokastro. He was honoured for his services to his country with the Senior Brigadier of the Order of George I after the sword. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant General.
