Student of the Physics Department of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Athens (1888). He then studied chemistry at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. He was awarded a doctorate in 1896. He returned and was appointed Curator of the Laboratory of General Chemistry. He was also a curator in the Pathological Anatomy Department of the University. In 1905 he was appointed Professor of General Chemistry. In 1912 he became Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Athens. Member of the Financial Council of the University and President in 1931.

He was rector of the University of Athens in 1928-29. He was president of the Union of Greek Chemists and the Physiodiphic Society. He published many studies on Greek foodstuffs. He introduced and organized the institution of food chemistry at the Customs. He wrote the Compendium of Organic Chemistry, Greek Chemical Nomenclature of Organic Compounds. etc. He was a member of the Council of the Grand Lodge of Greece.
