Son of the also Metesis Antonios, founder of the Annunciation stupa. He graduated from the School of Naval. In 1914 he was promoted to Lieutenant Commander. He took part as Commander Adjutant to Admiral Kalamidas in the Asia Minor campaign of 1921-22 and escaped. He was chief officer of the National Fleet. He retired as a Rear Admiral and was awarded many medals.

In 1945 he became Minister of Merchant Shipping and Transport.
