F:. Parthenon
(Kefalonia 1874 – Athens 1936)
He studied law at the University of Athens and wrote articles in newspapers and magazines. He was a director of the National Bank of Greece. In 1918, with his brother Dionysios, he founded the General Bank of which he was managing director until 1926. With the merger of the General Bank with the People’s Bank and served as its President. He was Minister of Finance in the governments of P. Tsaldaris 1933-34. He was a great collector of engravings, woodcuts and religious works. He was a great collector of religious icons. He had also built up a rich library of 30,000 volumes including manuscripts and codes. This library exists since 1939 and today in Kifissia. He wrote economic and historical works. He was a founding member and the first president of Rotarians in Greece.
