Ο Louis Frederick, (Frederick, Prince of Wales, 1707-1751), was the eldest son of George II and Caroline of Anshbach. He was born in Hanover and came to England in 1728 when his father ascended the throne. Although he was heir to the throne, his relationship with George II was often strained due to political and family differences.
Frederick was known for his love of the arts and music, supporting artists such as Handel. He married Princess Augusta of Saxony-Gotha, with whom he had nine children, including George III, who later became King of Great Britain.
His life was cut short prematurely in 1751, when he died of pneumonia, leaving his family in a difficult position, as his son George was still a minor. Although Frederick never became king, he was considered an important figure of his time, especially in the cultural sphere.
Louis Frederick was a Freemason. He was initiated on 5 November 1737 as the first member of the Royal Family, in a Special Lodge at Kew Palace, presided over by Doctor Desaguliers.
He was an important patron of the arts and an influential figure in English society of his time. Frederick’s contributions were relevant to the cultural and political life of his time.
He died on 31 March 1751 in London.
