Ο Abraham Lincoln (Abraham Lincoln, 1809-1865) served as the 16th President of the United States from 1861 until his assassination in 1865. Born into a poor family in Kentucky, he rose to prominence in politics thanks to his self-taught education and political talent.
Lincoln is known for his leadership during the American Civil War and for signing the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed the slaves in the South. His presidency was critical to maintaining the unity of the United States and fighting slavery.
On Freemasonry, Lincoln was indeed a Freemason. He was initiated into the Lodge Lodge Beardstown No. 123 in Illinois in 1860, and rose to the highest office of Master Mason in the same Lodge.
His integration into Freemasonry was significant, although he did not actively participate in many public Masonic activities during his presidency.
His tectonic involvement is often overshadowed by the historical significance of his presidency and leadership during the American Civil War, but it remains an interesting aspect of his personal life.
On April 14, 1865, while in a box at the Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C., he was shot with a bullet in the head by an ardent Southern supporter. He expired early in the morning of the 15th from April 1865.
