Author Historian

F:. Sun of Zakynthos

(Zakynthos 1918 – 1990 London)

A special personality who, although he did not have the opportunity of university studies, had a love for literature, poetry and especially for historical research. He was self-taught but he also learned a lot from the Archivist of Zakynthos L. Zois. He socialized with all the scholars of his time. His remarkable library was unfortunately destroyed by the terrible earthquake of 1953, which left a deep mark on him. He left and settled in Athens, where he was appointed librarian of the Parliament. He devoted himself to the research of the history of the Ionian Islands and especially of Zakynthos. He published the history of Zakynthos 1478-1978 in 11 volumes but he did not have time to publish 5 volumes yet. He also edited the historical literary magazine Eptanisa Leafs (1944-1990), where he published numerous studies. He published many historical studies (more than 200) in journals and also gave papers at conferences. For all his work he was honoured by the Academy of Athens. The Masonic Foundation published on his behalf, as a sponsor, the excellent work ”Dionysios Romas and the Greek National Revolt”. We selectively mention titles of his other works: My Father and I, Martinegos, N. Koutouzis, Dion. D. Solomos His Poetic Creation in Zakynthos, Zante, Zante Friends, G. Tercetis, Anecdotal Texts and Works, Epirotes in Zakynthos, Anecdotal Texts of the National Revolt, Secret societies during the years of the National Revolt, Zakynthina, The Ionian Academy, etc.
