Brother of Photios, he studied Law at the University of Athens and Theology at the Theological School of Halki. He practiced law and offered his services to the Archdiocese of Athens and the Viceroy Archbishop Damaskinos during the German occupation. He fought as a reserve lieutenant in Albania. He was decorated with medals for bravery, the War Cross of the Third Class and the Order of the Phoenix. In 1945-46 he was appointed Prefect of Zakynthos. He then became involved in politics and was elected for the first time as a Member of Parliament (1950). Since then he was elected as a deputy continuously, 1951-52 with the Synagerimos of Papagos and from 1956 to 1964 with the combinations of EPE. Minister of Transport 1956-58. After the post-independence period he joined the New Republic party and was elected Minister of Education 1974-76, Minister of Agriculture 1980-81, He particularly helped his hometown with his brother with a Spiritual Centre, and in the expansion of the Karpenisi Hospital.
