He studied at the Physico-mathematical School of the University of Athens. He was post-graduated in Freiburg, Germany. He was appointed curator in 1918 in the Department of Palaeontology – Geology. Then he became an associate professor at the chair of Mineralogy – Petrography (1933). Finally, he became a full professor at the E.M.P. in 1946.
‘He did many original studies and publications. His works on the volcano of Santorini, the island of Thera and the Theraean land, General Geology, the birth of the continents. etc. He was also distinguished for his social contribution and action, which is why we find him participating in the boards of directors of charitable institutions, such as Evangelismos, the Red Cross, the Arsakeio, etc.
