Ο Vicente Blasco Ibanez (Vicente Blasco Ibañez, 1867-1928) was a Spanish writer, journalist and politician, known for his novels and his work for the progressive transformation of Spanish society. He was born in Valencia and studied law at the University of Valencia. He soon turned to literature and journalism, where he criticised the social inequality and political oppression of his time.
Among his most famous works are “The Four Knights of the Apocalypse” and “The Red House”, which were an international success and were transferred to the cinema. Through his writing, Blasco Ibanez explored themes such as the conflict between social classes, religious hypocrisy and war.
As a politician, he was an active member of the Republican movement and was elected to Congress. He was a firm believer in democracy, education and freedom.
Ibanieth was a Freemason and was a member of the Lodges Acacia and Federación Valentina in Valencia between 1888 and 1895. He upheld the Masonic principles of liberty, equality and fraternity. Details of the offices he held are limited, but his activities in Freemasonry reflect his commitment to humanitarian values.
Blasco Ibanez died in 1928 in France, leaving behind a significant literary and political legacy.
