Ο Warren Harding (Warren Gamaliel Harding, 1865-1923) was the 29th President of the United States from 1921 until his death in 1923. Born in Blooming Grove, Ohio, he had a career in journalism and politics. Before becoming president, he served as a senator and governor of the state of Ohio. He was elected president in 1920, promising to restore “normalcy” after World War I by promoting economic growth and stability in the country. However, his presidency was marred by political scandals, including the Teapot Dome scandal.

Harding was also a Freemason. He was initiated early in his professional career and held several ranks within the Fraternity. He is known to have been a member of the lodge Marion Lodge No. 70 in Ohio, in which he was elevated to the highest office of Master Mason.

His participation in Freemasonry extended to Ancient & Accepted Scottish Press (AASR) where he rose to the 32nd rank. His involvement in Masonic activities continued during his presidency, although his association with Freemasons was not as publicly prominent as other aspects of his presidency.

As a Freethinker, Harding was known for his support of the values of brotherhood, personal integrity and social responsibility. His involvement reflected the widespread presence of fraternity in American society of his time, which influenced many politicians, including presidents and public figures.

Although Harding’s presidency is often associated with political scandals, such as the Teapot Dome scandal, his Masonic background reveals his connection to an important social network that played a role in shaping the public and political life of his time.

He died on 2 August 1923 in San Francisco of a myocardial infarction.
