He studied at the Sorbonne School of Physics and Mathematics and completed his studies at the University of Lausanne. He interrupted his studies while studying in France to enlist and fight in the Balkan Wars. At the end of the Balkan Wars he returned and continued his studies, to graduate from Lausanne in 1918, from the engineering school. In 1919 he again studied abroad the organization of material strength laboratories. He returned and was appointed curator at the H.M. Polytechnic. In 1921 he became an adjunct professor and director of the materials strength laboratory of the E.M.P. which he organized entirely. In 1931 he represented the NTUA at an international conference in Zurich. In 1933 he was elected full professor until 1948, when he resigned.

In 1948 he became the first representative of Greece to the newly established UNESCO, of which he was also vice-president. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Greece.
