He studied Agricultural Engineering in Montpellier, France. He then studied at the Law School of Athens and in 1935 was awarded a doctorate in Political Science. He was a professor at Panteion University and twice Rector 1944-46 and 1950-51. Then at the Agricultural School of Athens (1953) Professor of Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Policy. Rector of the Faculty in 1964-65.

He served as Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture. Member of Parliament of Evros 2 times. Minister of Agriculture 1945-46 in the government of Sofoulis and Minister of Finance 1951-52 in the government of Plastira. A prolific writer of scientific books and studies and with literary sensibilities, he wrote under the pseudonym Chr. Esperas. A friend of the tekton Nikos Kazantzakis , they made together, as a family, the long trip to Japan – China that preceded the publication of the corresponding book.
