Emmanuel Galanis (Kymi, 2/5/1838 -15/3/1926)

He was born in Kymi, Evia, on 2 May 1838 and studied Philology in Athens. After completing his university studies he went to Germany. After his return he took charge of the seminary of Chalkida, remained in public service in various regions as a teacher and head of the gymnasium for 31 years and retired on 2 April 1898.

During his service as a teacher at the Gymnasium of Kefalonia he saw the tectonic light in St. “Phoenix” of Corfu in 1867. He wrote aids for the studying youth, studies and monographs on ancient Greek and especially mystical life. He also wrote articles in which he clarified the philosophical meaning and significance of the ius (menex), the rose (rose) and other mystical symbols. He also contributed to translations of foreign works.

He was very active in our area and contributed to the organization of Freemasonry. Br. Galanis worked, taught and wrote in defense of Freemasonry, and as the first Sev. “Pythagoras” 1881-1884. Following a decision of his St. at the meeting of October 23, 1881, he supervised the drafting of Types and Regulations based on the respective standards of the Smyrna St. “Victory”.

On March 15, 1926 he was transferred to the Eternal East.
