He studied Natural Sciences at the University of Athens for 2 years but transferred to the School of Pharmacy, from which he graduated with honours (1906). He continued his studies at the University of Bern and was awarded a Doctorate in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacognosy in 1912. He served in the Balkan Wars in the medical corps. He worked as a pharmacist.

He then pursued a university career. He became an assistant in the pharmaceutical chemistry department of the University of Athens. In 1914-18 he became a curator. He was elected Professor in 1918 and Full Professor and Director of the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department in 1921. He taught chemistry and explosives at the Cadet School. At the ASOEE Commercial Science 1930-40. Dean 1928/29, 1936/37, 1955/6 and Rector of the University of Athens in 1949.

Academician and President of the Academy in 1952. He represented Greece in the International Pharmaceutical Federation many times. He was a co-founder of pharmaceutical companies and scientific associations. He left a wealth of scientific writings, studies and special papers. But he also wrote literature, poetry and prose.
