Edward VII, (London, 9/11/1841 - London, 6/5/1910)

Ο Edward VII (Edward VII, 1841-1910), King of the United Kingdom and Emperor of the Indies from 1901 to 1910, was the son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. He was known for his exceptional sociability, diplomatic skills and active involvement in foreign affairs, particularly in improving relations with France during the period known as the Entente Cordiale. His reign marked the end of the Victorian Age and the beginning of the Edwardian Age, a period marked by social and cultural changes.

Edward VII was also a Freemason and an active member of the Masonic Brotherhood. He was initiated in 1868 into a lodge in Sweden and was recognized for his participation in promoting Masonic ideals.

After his return to England, he was active in many lodges and founded many others during his masonic career. He was a member and patron of the Grand Lodges of Scotland and Ireland, and an honorary member of Edinburgh Lodge, No. 1.

In 1874, Edward VII assumed the office of Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of the United Grand Lodge of the United Kingdom and served in that capacity until 1901. During his tenure as Grand Master, he played an important role in promoting Freemasonry throughout the British Empire.

His role in the Brotherhood and his relationship with other great Masonic leaders of the time was important to the development of Freemasonry in the UK.

In addition to the office of Grand Master, Edward VII held other offices, such as member and patron of the Supreme Council of the Third Estate for England, as well as the highest office in the Royal Arch. He was also an honorary member of several other Lodges, including those in Scotland and Ireland.

He died in 1910 in London, before the parliamentary crisis subsided.
