He graduated from the Evelpidon School as an infantry lieutenant and made a career as a soldier but because of his abilities he also became involved in politics. He took part in the Balkan wars and was wounded twice in the battles of Sarandaporos and Lachanas. In 1918 he resigned but was reinstated in 1920 after the elections and the failure of El. He returned to the army in 1920, but returned in 1920 after the election of Elector Venizelos. In 1923 he took part in the Leonardopoulos – Gargalides movement and again resigned. In 1935 he was reinstated and demobilized.
He reached the rank of Lieutenant General. He worked with Ioannis Metaxas (1937) and was appointed General Director of the Macedonian Plumbing Fund, dealing with water supply, sewage systems, etc. He was Minister of the Interior 1937-1941 and for a short time Minister of Social Welfare in the governments of I. Metaxas and Al. He was Minister for a short period of time in the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Greece under A. Koryzis and A. Korizis. He resigned with the entry of the German occupiers.
