He studied at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the University of Athens and continued his studies in Berlin. He became a full professor at the Botanical and Agricultural School of Athens. Later he became Professor of Systematic Botany at the School of Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences. He was Dean of the School during the periods 1953 – 1954 & 1962 – 1963. He wrote many papers on Botany and the Greek flora.
