Ο Juan Martinez de Rosas (Juan Inocencio Martínez de Rozas Correa, 1759-1813) was a Chilean politician and military leader, known for his leadership during the period of Chilean independence. He was born in Chile and served in the army from an early age, showing off his strategic skills. He joined the revolutionary movement against Spanish rule and actively participated in the resistance against the Spanish forces. In 1811, he assumed the presidency of Chile and served as a leader in the struggle for the country’s independence from Spain.
He served as Supreme Director of Chile from 1811 to 1813, playing a key role in the country’s transition from Spanish colonialism to independence.
De Rosas was also known for his strong involvement in Freemasonry. He was a member of the Lodge and his political activity was closely linked to the liberal and enlightening principles promoted by the Freemasons. His involvement in Freemasonry made him one of the many Latin American leaders who embraced the ideas of freedom and independence that inspired the revolution in the region.
He died on 16 May 1813 in Mendoza.
