The last son (8th) of kings George I and Olga. Multi-lingual and sensitive, he studied with personal tutors and played the piano well. He enlisted in the Greek army and in 1908 was made a lieutenant in the infantry. After the Goudi movement he resigned but returned to active service in 1912 just after the declaration of war in Turkey, having been promoted to captain in the meantime. He fought in the Balkans and in 1914 became a major in 1914. He followed the royal family on the expedition and retired in 1919.

After the 1920 revolution he was recalled to service and promoted retroactively to colonel. After the Asia Minor disaster he was demobilized again. He lived abroad for several years where he had two marriages and returned after the restoration of 1935. Christopher’s only child was Prince Michael (Michel de Grece) known for his literary work. He received the rank of lieutenant general and was demobilized at his request as a lieutenant general in 1938. Christopher wrote an interesting memoir.
