F:. Skenderbeis
(Athens 1872 – 1944)
He studied at the newly founded Gymnastics School (1897) and became a Professor of Gymnastics. He was an athlete, a fan and a pioneering Physical Educator. Director of the Panhellenic Gymnastics Association in 1891. Organizer of sports competitions and events. Member of the committee of the 1906 Olympic Games, the 1909 swimming games, leader of the team delegation to the 1907 Panegyric Games. He became one of the first football referees of the Greek athletic delegation to the London Olympics (1908). During his visit to England he was informed about “Scouting” and its pedagogical value. After his return he founded the first scout troop in 1910. Two years later, the Greek Scout Corps was founded (20.5.1912).
