Installation of New Principles of the “St. John of Charity” Lodge

On Friday 19 April the new authorities of the “St. John of Charity” Lodge No. 131 of Athens were installed, which operates according to the Rite of the rectified Scottish Type (Rite écossais rectifié).

Venerable settled the Dean of the M.S.T.E., brother Α. Μ. , while the honorary position of the immediately former Sevasmio was taken over by the Honorary Member of the Council of MTE, Brother Leander Lefakis. Present were most of the members of the Council of MTE, the Additional Grand Master of MTE, Brother George Biniaris and the Grand Master of MTE, Brother Michael Mattes.

The work was honoured by the presence of the Grand Master of the Regular Grand Lodge of Belgium (Grande Loge régulière de Belgique), His Eminence Brother Daniel Bauwens.

It should be noted that the operation of the Lodge with this form is the result of the untiring cooperation of the leadership of the two Grand Lodges, which was further strengthened by the granting by the Canonical Grand Lodge of Belgium of the traditional form of the three symbolic degrees of the Untouched Type, which was translated into Greek by Brother P.T. of Lodge Logos 189. In fact, this form is the oldest and most authentic in the world since it originates from Jean-Baptiste Villermose himself and dates back to 1782 (Wilhelmsbad Congress).

The St. John of Agathaergia Lodge is named in honour of the first lodge that worked in Greece and especially in the Ionian Islands (Corfu) as Saint Jean de la Bienfaisance, according to the standard of the Untouched Scottish Type, with a charter of operation from the Great Scottish Mother Lodge of Verona in East Padua in the 1780s.
